Secondary (KS3 & KS4)
This section builds upon the seven strand Stephen Lawrence topics children have engaged with at Primary school. A revision of these seven strands are included within this section.
Within the KS3 and KS4 section we look at the PSHE Curriculum focusing on
- Health and Wellbeing
- Relationships
- Living in the wider world
Students at this stage are thinking about entering society, choosing careers and will be affected by many influences along the way. The recent pandemic with lockdown and online learning is changing the way our young people act and think. We look at how young people can be adversely affected by misuse of substances and gang culture. Through open discussions and engaging students to think about making the right choices, we hope to support the learning of young people who can then feel empowered to go forward and make a difference in their communities.
We also learn about the love of Stephen’s family, their fight for justice and commitment to community with our Secondary (KS3 and KS4) assembly and associated lessons.
Explore how the case into the racist murder of an innocent black person was dogged by institutional racism, contributing to a delay in identifying and prosecuting suspects. Discover a message of hope, dreams, justice and inspiration through the work of Stephen’s family and consider how they have inspired others to challenge racism and discrimination, and to be the best you can be.
