We’re excited to unveil our groundbreaking partnership with Soho House to launch the Stephen Lawrence Legacy Work Experience Programme! This initiative is designed to empower underrepresented young people by opening doors to diverse career opportunities.

About the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation
Job Purpose
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Foundation’s financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Ensure that the Foundation operates within its financial resources and is compliant with all financial regulations and standards.
- Monitor the Foundation’s financial performance, providing regular reports and advice to the CEO and the Board of Trustees.
- Ensure the preparation of accurate, timely, and compliant financial statements, annual accounts, and audit processes.
- Lead the financial risk management processes, identifying potential risks and recommending solutions.
- Act as the point of contact for external auditors, liaising with them to ensure smooth and effective audit procedures.
- Advise the Board of Trustees on financial matters, ensuring that all trustees are kept informed about the Foundation’s financial position.
- Support fundraising efforts by ensuring financial transparency and accountability, and by contributing to the development of financial strategies for fundraising campaigns.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Treasurer or in a similar financial role within a charitable or not-for-profit organisation.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and charity financial management.
- Experience of preparing and presenting financial reports to non-financial stakeholders.
- A proactive and strategic thinker, able to identify financial opportunities and risks.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the Operational Team, Trustees, and external partners.
- A commitment to the values of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, with a passion for social justice and equity.
Desirable
- Experience with fundraising and financial management in the charity sector.
- Knowledge of charity governance and compliance requirements.
- An accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
- Lived experience that reflects the communities the Foundation serves, particularly young people from underrepresented backgrounds, and a personal connection or commitment to the values and legacy of Stephen Lawrence.
