OUR IMPACT
Home » Our Impact
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, everything we do is driven by our mission to inspire a more equitable, inclusive society and to create opportunities for young people to flourish. We honour Stephen’s legacy by embedding his story into education, promoting social justice, and empowering young voices.

We focus on three key areas of impact:
1. Education – Embedding Stephen’s Legacy in Classrooms
We work with schools, teachers, and education providers to ensure that Stephen’s story becomes part of the national conversation in classrooms. Our resources help students understand the importance of racial equity, tolerance, and justice.
In 2024:
Over 1,500 schools accessed our Stephen Lawrence Education Materials.
Launched our Stephen Lawrence Day Resource Hub, offering age-appropriate content for primary and secondary education.
Partnered with education trusts to deliver anti-racism training to over 4,000 teachers.
2. Community – Empowering Youth and Elevating Voices
We believe young people are the change-makers of tomorrow. Through our programmes, we amplify their voices and provide the platforms they need to lead conversations around equity and inclusion.
In 2024:
Reached over 15,000 young people through our Youth Voice Ambassadors programme.
Hosted the SLDF Youth Summit, bringing together 350+ youth leaders to shape dialogue around race and opportunity.
Awarded £100,000 in community grants to grassroots organisations tackling racial inequality.
3. Careers – Creating Pathways for Future Success
We work with employers, professionals, and industry leaders to increase access to careers for young people from underrepresented communities, particularly in sectors where diversity is lacking.
In 2024:
Launched the SLDF Mentorship Network, connecting 300+ young people with professionals across law, architecture, media, and more.
Secured internship placements for over 100 students through our corporate partnerships.
Worked with major UK employers to develop inclusive hiring toolkits and DEI training.

"Stephen’s legacy is not only a story of injustice, it is a catalyst for change. At the Foundation, we are committed to turning pain into progress by creating opportunities, elevating young voices, and inspiring systemic change. Measuring our impact isn't just about numbers; it’s about lives changed, minds opened, and a fairer society built in Stephen’s name."

How We Measure Impact
We use a combination of quantitative data, direct feedback, and partner evaluation to assess the reach and effectiveness of our work. This helps us continually improve and ensure our programmes deliver real, lasting change.
We also regularly consult with educators, community leaders, and young people themselves to ensure our initiatives reflect their needs and aspirations.

"Every project we deliver is rooted in Stephen’s story and driven by the belief that meaningful change begins at the grassroots. From classrooms to communities, we’re seeing real transformation, young people empowered, voices heard, and opportunities created. That’s the impact we’re proud to measure."
