We are deeply saddened to learn that 20 year old Khaleed Oladipo, a cybersecurity student at De Montfort University @dmuleicester, has been fatally stabbed in Leicester. Khaleed was described by his family as a deeply loved son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and friend whose life was full of promise.
This devastating loss is a painful reminder of the urgent need to protect young people and invest in safer communities, stronger support systems and real opportunities for the next generation.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we believe every young person deserves safety, dignity and the chance to build a hopeful future. Our thoughts are with Khaleed’s family, friends and all those affected by this tragedy.

Right now, 91% of school governors identify as being from a White background, and 90% are over the age of 40 (NGA). More diversity is needed to ensure that governing boards represent communities they serve.
This National School Governors` Awareness Day, education charity Governors for Schools will host a `Become a school governor` webinar for anyone who wants to find out more about the role and how to get involved.
You don’t need an education background - just curiosity and a desire to support children and young people.
👉 Join the webinar at 1pm on 12th February and find out if school governance could be right for you: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/7417688229988/WN_uXFytPL2SuKILPr5zalZOw

Education has never mattered more.
Teacher and Educational Consultant Ziggy Moore highlights an important truth. The world young people are growing up in today is very different to that of previous generations. Pathways that once existed have changed, and the future of work is being reshaped by technology, automation and new industries.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we believe education is not just about qualifications. It is about access, confidence, guidance and real opportunity. It is about giving young people the tools to navigate change, build resilience and move forward with purpose.
When young people are supported to learn, grow and explore what is possible, they are better prepared to shape their own futures rather than inherit the limitations of the past.
This is why our work across classrooms, communities and careers remains essential. Because knowledge still changes everything.

Belief has the power to change everything.
When young people are encouraged to aim high, to trust their potential and to believe that opportunity is within reach, it can shape the course of their lives. Confidence grows when doors are opened, voices are heard and aspirations are met with real support.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we work to create pathways that help young people access education, careers and opportunity, so that ambition is not limited by circumstance.
If you believe in helping young people reach their goals and build brighter futures, consider making a donation to support our work across classrooms, communities and careers.

“A teacher’s words can break a glass ceiling.”
In his song ADHD, @namesbliss shares his lived experience of growing up navigating the school system while living with ADHD. His words speak to the power of belief, the impact of language, and how deeply young people are shaped by the way they are seen, supported and encouraged.
For many young people, this song will feel like being heard. It reminds us that behind every classroom experience is a young person carrying potential, questions and dreams, and that the right words, at the right time, can change everything.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we believe that hope, access and encouragement are essential. When young people are met with understanding and opportunity, it opens doors, builds confidence and shapes futures.
If you believe in the power of education, belief and opportunity to change young lives, consider making a donation to support our work across classrooms, communities and careers.

Christmas is a time of giving, gratitude and reflection. This year, we are thankful for the opportunities made possible through the generosity of our supporters and partners, and for the young people whose journeys remind us why this work matters.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we have seen how access to education, scholarships and career pathways can open doors and change lives. Every opportunity shared is a reminder that belief, support and investment in young people can shape brighter futures.
We also want to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported our work this year. Every donation, whether big or small, has made a real difference and helped us continue creating opportunities for young people.
As we reflect on the year, we are deeply aware that generosity is what allows opportunity to reach young people. This Christmas, we ask you to consider giving a gift that lasts beyond the season and helps ensure Stephen’s legacy continues to change lives.

We congratulate Frank Bruno @frankbrunoboxer on being awarded the Freedom of the City of London.
Frank Bruno has become an inspirational figure, not only for his hugely impressive achievements in the boxing ring, but for the courage and honesty he has shown in speaking openly about his mental health. After retiring from boxing, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and has since used his platform to help challenge stigma and encourage more open conversations around mental health.
Through the Frank Bruno Foundation, he has continued this work by supporting people experiencing or recovering from mental health challenges, using sport as a tool for confidence, connection and wellbeing.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we recognise the importance of role models who lead with integrity and openness. Figures like Frank Bruno remind us that strength is not only found in success, but in resilience, honesty and the willingness to help others.
If you believe in the power of role models and opportunity to shape young lives, consider making a donation to support our work across classrooms, communities and careers.
