Stephen Lawrence Day takes place on April 22nd every year, on the anniversary of Stephen’s death. A national moment of reflection and a call to action. Each year, we honour Stephen’s life by inspiring individuals, schools, and communities to drive change. Stephen Lawrence Day is more than remembrance, it’s a day to celebrate progress, challenge injustice, and empower young people to imagine their futures. We provide schools, workplaces, and individuals with resources and inspiration to participate meaningfully.

At HMP Feltham, we came together to honour Stephen Lawrence’s legacy and spark meaningful conversations about equity, opportunity and change.
As part of the day`s event, we took part in a powerful Roundtable with several leading organisations, discussing rehabilitation, connection with young people, and how we—as a community—can drive real, tangible change for generations to come.
This special event aimed to raise awareness and inspire action within one of the most marginalised communities, reminding us that everyone deserves the chance to grow, contribute and be seen.
We were proud to have our Interim CEO @donaldmbeutcha in attendance, standing in solidarity with those under HMP Feltham’s care and reinforcing our commitment to justice and transformation.

We were honoured to hear from Tendai Mutyasera, one of the early beneficiaries of Stephen’s legacy, whose story is a powerful reminder of the long-lasting impact of opportunity. Along with a current member of the SLDF’s alumni, Eric Berete speaking to the power of Stephen’s continued legacy and the work of the Foundation.
The event was hosted by Tulani St. Hilaire alongside remarks from the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation’s Interim CEO, Donald Mbeutcha — all sharing a vision for a fairer, more inclusive future.

On Stephen Lawrence Day, @bwre_official in partnership with the SLDF hosted a roundtable event, bringing together inspiring voices and ideas based around inclusion within the built environment, the issues we are facing as a community and possible ways in which we can bridge the gap.
