Each year, we honour Stephen’s life by inspiring individuals, schools, and communities to drive change. Stephen Lawrence Day is more than remembrance, it’s a day to celebrate progress, challenge injustice, and empower young people to imagine their futures. The Story of Stephen Lawrence
A timeline of key events and changes that have been brought about in Stephen Lawrence’s name.
@SLDAYFDN
Last Thursday 26th June, the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, hosted by our Chair of Trustees Baroness Doreen Lawrence and represented by our Project Manager Narissa Williams, had the privilege of meeting some of Stephen’s living legacy. These are accomplished architects who were once young people inspired and empowered by his story.
Some now run their own practices, each a testament to how far the ripple of Stephen’s legacy has reached.
It was an honour to have Baroness Lawrence share her personal journey, from the early days of the Trust to Founding the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, reminding us all of the powerful why behind the work we do.
It was a beautiful moment of reconnection, reflection and forward vision. We have exciting new initiatives on the horizon, rooted in Stephen’s legacy and focused on shaping the future.

We’re proud to announce the Stephen Lawrence Scholarship, launched in partnership with the Football Foundation @footballfoundation and the University of Greenwich @uniofgreenwich
Honouring Stephen’s love for both football and architecture, this scholarship supports Black students from low-income backgrounds and those who are care experienced or estranged, pursuing their Part 2 MArch in Architecture.
More than a scholarship, it’s a commitment to equality, opportunity, and creating spaces where communities can thrive.
The fund was announced at Charlton Athletic FC’s Training Ground, home to Charlton Athletic Community Trust, which has also received £350k in Football Foundation funding to help under-represented communities in and around Charlton get more active.
Together we’re building on Stephen’s legacy through education, sport, and access to opportunity.

As part of the #SLD25 celebrations, the University of Greenwich hosted a powerful Challenging Inequality event led by Outreach Project Leader Elanor.
Schools from across the borough came together for a day of meaningful activities, giving students space to reflect on Stephen’s life and legacy, share their voices, and explore how we can tackle inequality across different sectors of society.
