Careers
A legacy for change in collaboration with employer partners
Stephen’s ambition was for a professional career as an architect. Because he never got to realise his dreams, our ambition is to create career opportunities for thousands of young people.
We want under represented young people to be able to access, progress and succeed in whatever career they choose. Now more than ever organisations around the world want to implement effective diversity and inclusion recruitment strategies so as to create new careers and opportunities for young people. Research shows that diversity in business isn’t just good business it’s also smarter and more profitable business.
Our ambition is to be at the heart of matching thousands of under represented individuals to all kinds of careers, according to aspiration. The Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation will be at the heart of an innovative new approach to bring individuals into a range of sectors in a number of different ways.
All of our Careers programmes will be unified by Stephen’s name and this will become an enduring part of Stephen’s legacy. In changing thousands of lives and organisations, we will continue our legacy of change and help create a fairer society.
Our Careers programme is a new focus for the Foundation in 2021. We are having exciting conversations with employers and will add details below as new programmes go live.
The Stephen Lawrence Digital Apprenticeship Fast Track Programme
The Digital Apprenticeship Fast Tack programme supports under-represented individuals to access new careers and professionally accredited training across a range of job growth sectors so as to be able to thrive in our digital transformation era.
In today’s world ‘digital’ has become the fourth core skill. Being digitally literate is going to be as make-or-break as being able to read, write or do sums in your head. Having the digital skills that employers want will make a big difference to how our young people navigate and progress in the digital economy.
In collaboration with employers we will recruit young people into their organisations, fast tracking career progression via high quality, industry led professional training and development so the workforce, at all levels, can truly reflect our society. With the proven digital apprenticeship model at the core of the programme the new, diverse recruits will be fast tracked towards becoming tomorrows digital innovators and tech leaders.
