Exclusion is not the answer.
When Lavinya Stennett @gottabelavin_ya shared her story with @fortheculture, she spoke about being permanently excluded from school on more than one occasion for what was labelled as “audacious behaviour.”
She refused to let that stigma define her. Instead, she went on to earn a scholarship at the University of London, studied in New Zealand on another scholarship, and later founded @theblackcurriculum, changing the narrative for young people across the UK.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that excluding young people doesn’t solve challenges. It pushes them further away. In the UK, Black students are five times more likely to be excluded from school than their White peers. We must invest in support, mentorship and opportunity, not punishment.

At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we are committed to tackling these disparities and creating spaces where every young person can thrive.

When voices like @officialgiggs speak openly about autism and the lack of support in schools, it shines a light on a reality too many families face today. These conversations are powerful because they help neurodivergent young people feel seen and valued.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we know that education must work for every child. That means creating pathways, raising awareness and building systems where no young person is left behind because of who they are or how they learn.
🧡 Together, we can change perceptions, challenge barriers and create real opportunities.

Young people like Abiola Abidoye remind us what brilliance, determination and resilience look like. At just 18 years old, this Ipswich student achieved the highest A-Level law grade in the UK, scoring an extraordinary 224 out of 240. On top of that, he secured A*s in maths, further maths and physics — a truly outstanding academic achievement.
Stories like Abiola’s show us the importance of creating pathways where talent and hard work can shine, regardless of background. They remind us why equity in education matters and why we must keep building opportunities for the next generation.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we are committed to ensuring every young person has the chance to fulfil their potential, just like Abiola.
If you believe in a fairer future for young people, help us make it happen.

💭 How many Black Brits would it take to raise £1 billion? The numbers might surprise you.
This is more than a question. It’s a reminder that community is a powerful tool we’ve yet to fully unlock. Imagine the impact if we came together to invest in opportunities for young people from underrepresented backgrounds.
At the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation, we fight to close disparities in education and create pathways for the next generation to thrive.
